How do I get rid of gnats in air vents?
We have had gnats in our house for months now. Our exterminator has sprayed and fogged and is amazed by the number of dead bugs that gather on our window sills. After much investigating, we've discovered that the gnats are living in our vent system. They must be breeding down there. We've purchased felt vent covers as a temporary measure and are considering hiring a service to clean out the vents. Does anyone know if this will work? Why are the gnats living down there? These vents are under a slab and it is possible that there is a crack and some dirt got in--leaving a breeding ground for these bugs. If anyone out there has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated. I can't stand living with these bugs anymore.

How do i hardwire an originally battery powered smoke detector? And still maintain a battery backup?
We have battery powered smoke detectors. I was hoping to hard wire an ac/dc adapter that gives it same , 9V (not sure amps), directly to the battery leads. I would previously just remove the battery but hoping I can leave some type of battery back up in case power goes out. Can I just put in a rechargable 9V battery into where I now already have 9V dc coming into the leads? Thanks for any insight and help.

Why are the ants all over my cats food? And what can I do to get rid of them?
If I leave food even a little bit of food in my cat's bowl for any amount of time day or night (I would suspect that ants have no concept of time), when I look in the bowl again there are these little tiny black ants going in and out of the fool bowl and intermixed with the food. This only happens when I put the food bowl on the tile kitchen floor and the tile bathroom floor. I have put out ant traps but they didn't seem to work and I was worried that my cat might get into it. I am afraid to spray anything in case it gets on the food or the cat injests it somehow. My apartment is kept clean, just a bit cluttered with clothing, no food on the floor to attract these darn things. I do live in a house with other apartments, could the ants be coming from them? Help!!! I need to get rid of the ants and be able to keep a bit of food for my cat in the bowl when I am not home in the day time!!!

How do I stop my laptop from overheating and shutting off?
I have a 2006 acer aspire 5100 and recently it seems to be overheating and shutting off while only running a couple of applications, and in general is really slowing down. I have ran virus scans and it doesn't find anything, but it is annoying when I am working on something and it shuts off, even when I have it on a desk with room to vent. Any suggestions, thanks!

What can possibly be wrong with my furnace?
What can possibly be wrong with my furnace? The temperature keeps dropping even though i set the temperature at 68F, and the furnace won't run to raise the temperature back to 68F. So, why? I am sure it is a gas furnace, and i don't think i need to reset it because it was running well just last night. This has occured several times, and i know the furnace is not broken but the temperature automatically drops even though i set to hold the temperature at 68F.

Why doesnt Nascar use a Mustang instead of a Fusion for the body style of their cars?
Mustang are the prominent sports car on the road today, whereas the fusion doesnt relate well to being a racecar. I agree that a camry isnt a muscle car either, but Toyota really doesnt have an option.

What do you keep your thermostat set at during the summer & winter?
In the summer we have the thermostat set at 77 degrees and my husband in constantly complaining that it is too cold, he insists that we need to set it at 78 degrees. What it boils down to is that he is CHEAP! He would rather sit here and be hot to save on the power bill. In the winter we have to keep it at 71 degrees. I am just curious what every one else keeps their thermostat set at?

Why does my furnace create an odor when running?
This is my 1st winter in a cottage that I am renting. Every time that my furnace is running, there is a bad odor throughout the basement where the furnace is located. It smells pretty bad. My neighbors have the same problem. My neighbors house is the same as mine and has the same owners. The furnace is really old also. What is causing this odor? It's a gas furnace.
