Are painters liable for damage they cause to your home? My mom hired painters to paint several rooms in our house. When I got home, I noticed that they scratched, dented, and put a hole in our hardwood floors while moving things. What should I do? So Yes, a painter is liable...bill him for the cleaning, replacement or whatever and if they fail to reimburse you, file a small claim against them in court.
