How do I keep my Betta Fish's Water from getting ice cold?
I have a Betta Fish that I keep in a decorated bowl on my dresser. His water is getting very cold though, and I read online that a Betta's temperature should be rather warm. Is it okay for him to be in water that is room temperature? I don't want him to die, but I know of alot of people who keep their Bettas in a bowl. Please help me!

cold water wont really kill him, but it will weaken his immune system and make him prone to diseases which he will most likely die from. You should get a tank/bowl atleast 2gal so you can be able to keep a heater in there. they sell 7.5 watt heaters especially designed for small tanks for only 7$ at wal mart. Its not that expensive and your fish will love you for it. Alot of people keep bettas in bowls because they are ignorant or because they simply dont really care, they just look at it as a disposable decorationl. Also, many people get the wrong information from the petstore. Petstores make bettas seem extremely low maintenence so they will sell. You dont really need to buy a book, like someone else mentioned. Books are usually out-dated. Investigate online, bettatalk is a great website.Hope it helps and i hope you get hima heater soon.

Answer 2
Get a tank with a heater. Seriously. Lots of people keep them in bowls. Lots of people keep goldfish in bowls. Lots of people do lots of things the wrong way, but that doesn't make it right. If you want the best for your betta he should have a tank, a heater, a filter, and lots of plants. If you haven't kept a betta this way, then you've never truly kept a betta. You'd be amazed at what active and curious fish they can be. Anyway, the only way to heat a bowl is to keep it in a warm room. They do ok at room temperature, if not great, as long as it's over 73 or so - that's the least of the reasons they should be in tanks though.

Fish are not just decorative things we keep on dressers like last summers vacation photos, it is cruel, go buy a tank a heater a filter some water conditioner and some plants and lighting and be willing to give time to keep your fish alive and happy your caring for a living thing that completely rely on you to survive!

Answer 5
Room temperature isn't alright unless your room is about 80 F all the time. A betta needs a 5 gallon tank with filter and heater. Not a bowl. **
